The following reports support mass profiling: - Single Dimension - [profile report](/v1/docs/functional-overview) - [multi-function profile report](/v1/docs/mfprofile-introduction) - [index profile report](/v1/docs/index-profile) - 2 Dimension - [Multi-Function Profile scatter plots](/v1/docs/qq-how-do-i-create-a-scatter-plot) - dataset only is iterative - [2 dimensional profile (crosstab/pivot)](/v1/docs/functional-overview-2) - pivot dimension is iterative For each of these report types it is possible to iteratively change **one** of the following at a time: - dimension - changed by dropping a field template onto the result grid - dataset- changed by dropping a dataset collection onto the result grid CAUTIONDepending on the number of items in the dataset collection or field template, the mass profiler may take several minutes to produce the dashboard. ### Iterating by Dataset Iterating by dataset repeats the starting profile for each dataset in a collection, applying each dataset as a base filter. So for example, take a simple profile of marital status: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697646754497.png) Perhaps there is a need to see this profile split out by age band. To do this a [dataset collection](/v1/docs/dataset-collection-builder) of the age bands of interest is created: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697651743849.png) The dataset collection is then dropped onto the profile report. Select either - 2 column dashboard - 3 column dashboard ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697646794550.png) A dashboard is created, iterating through the datasets in the collection: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697646885400.png) ### Iterating by Dimension Iterating by dimension repeats the starting profile for each field in field template, applying each field as a dimension. So for example, take an index profile of customer-recency-decile with target filter of first transaction before 2020-0101: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697651334946.png) Create a template of dimensions to profile (make sure they are Discrete Fieldfields) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697651274861.png) Drop the field template onto the index profile and a dashboard will be produced with an index profile for each dimension in the field template. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697651304195.png) ### ### Limits - A maximum of 24 iterations can be added to a single dashboard. - A maximum of 64 iterations can be processed in a single calculation - if more than 24 iterations are specified, multiple dashboards will be produced - Mass Profiling dashboards cannot be auto-generated in script from a dataset collection or template - as part of the script development process, automate the production of the dashboards, and then add the dashboards to the script. ## Table Auto Dashboard When first looking at data, especially unfamiliar data, it can be helpful to see a quick summary visualisation of a table and it's fields and columns. Processing TimeNOTE: Depending on the number of records and fields in the table it can take several minutes to auto-dashboard a table ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697653303405.png) Right-click and open as copy any individual visualisations of interest: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697653384803.png) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697653428536.png) ## Open as Dashboard Available for the multi-field statistics report. 1. Add fields to Setup grid. 2. Select "open as dashboard" from the toolbar 3. A new dashboard will be created, adding each field as a separate statistics report. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697652863446.png) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697652905364.png) Add the original mutli-field stats report to the dashboard to add a summary slot to the final dashboard (optional) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697653122975.png) ![](https://cdn.document360.io/73b6469b-c1e4-47e9-aa65-986c8ebd17ca/Images/Documentation/image-1697653236673.png) A dimension is a qualitative variable that provides context and meaning to a metric or measure. It is used to group data. Usually a dimension is a discrete field (or column). Dimensions provide row groupings for tabulations and profiles, and are similar to "row fields" in a spreadsheet pivot table. A collection of table records - may be all records in the table, or a subset of records. A dataset has a corresponding Query Rule, that determines which records from the table are in or out of the dataset (or "selection"). A Discrete Field is a field that has an index applied to it so that frequency counts within the field are easily discoverable. Some database systems refer to discrete fields as categorical fields. In DataJet discrete fields can be of any data type, although date fields and dataset fields are always discrete. If a field is discrete it will: - be expandable in the Database Tree-View, - can be profiled. - can be used as a parameter in a variety of engineering functions
