DataJet Desktop attaches to an authorized DataJet Server (either on the local machine, or more usually on a dedicated DataJet Server) using credentials provided as part of the DataJet onboarding process. This article assumes that an **up-to-date DataJet Server has been commissioned and is available for connection, and that the necessary credentials have been supplied by DataJet**. For help obtaining credentials, contact **support@datajet.app** Commissioning a DataJet ServerFor instructions on how to commission a DataJet Server, consult with DataJet Onboarding.  See also: - [DataJet Server Minimum Specifications](/v1/docs/djserverminspec) ### Before Installing ### Minimum Client Requirements - A business class PC with moderate specs for CPU/RAM is acceptable, however, a **low-end consumer PC is not recommended**. - Min: 8Gb RAM - Min: Multi-Core CPU - Operating System: Windows 10 or 11, with most recent updates applied. #### DataJet Credentials (From DataJet) CredentialsUsernames and passwords are normally created by an organisation on their own Identity Provider, such as Okta, Auth0 or Keycloak. - DataJet **Data Realm**, as provided by DataJet via email. - DataJet **Username**. - DataJet User Initial **Password**. ### Step 1: Download and Extract the Software There is no install required. The files just need to be downloaded and the program started. 1. Download the software by going to https://download.datajet.app/desktop in a browser. This will download a .zip file to the client Downloads folder. 2. Double click on the downloaded .zip file and 'Extract all'. Ensure that a location is choosen in the Windows folders where there is permission to launch an app (i.e. normally extract under the user directory, not the C: drive). A new folder named "datajet-desktop" will appear containing all the DataJet Desktop files. UpdatesIf a notification is recieved that there is a new version of DataJet Desktop available the update process is as follows: 1. Close DataJet Desktop if it is currently running on the client computer. 2. Delete the entire "datajet-desktop" folder and its contents from the previous installtion. 3. Follow the steps under "Installation" above. ### Step 2: Start DataJet Desktop To log in, see [Logging Into DataJet Desktop](/v1/docs/logging-in-to-datajet-desktop).
